Attend Car Shows!
One of the best ways to get your name out there is to be proactive in the community you want to serve. If you’re wanting to strip cars, haul your Dustless Blasting machine out to every car show and cruise night you can find. Simply talk to people about what you can do, and give them your business card if they’re interested. When I spoke to Randy of Lone Star Dustless Blasting, he said he averages 3-4 cars per week during the summer, and he’s met most of those customers at the cruise nights he visits each weekend! Be Active on Facebook
Back in the day, when contractors wanted to show off their work, they’d present a photo album full of pictures to potential customers. Today, that photo album is Facebook. It’s the easiest way to share photos and videos of what you’re doing. The great thing about social networks is that they’re great for networking! If a car guy you did work for posts about your service, his car guy friends will be able to see it! Setup a Facebook Business page (NOT a personal Facebook page), and any time you do work for a company, try to tag their page in the pictures you post, so the people who like their page can see your work. Post Craigslist Ads
Criagslist.org is the 12th most popular website in the United States. That means that people in your city are almost certainly looking at it. Since it has such incredible traffic, postings there are very visible to search engines. Posting an ad is free and easy. Make sure to post your ad under "Services Offered". Under that posting type there are the following categories that you might want to post in: Automotive Services, Marine Services, Farm and Garden Services, and Labor Services. It all depends on what type of business you’re interested in drumming up. Obviously don’t post in Marine services if you don’t want to blast boats.
Partner with Local Businesses
Body and hot rod shops are sick of having to tow their cars to a sand blaster, and waiting forever for them to get finished. Painting companies, powder coaters, and swimming pool companies are some other examples of good businesses to partner with. Show them what you can do, and you could end up getting recurring work from them on a regular basis! Even your local power washing business may come across a job that high pressure water just can’t handle. Negotiate some sort of finder’s fee for the jobs they pass on to you, and everybody wins.
