DUSTLESS BLASTING® CASE STUDY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Pro Blasting of South Florida and Surface Prep Pros, LLC collaborated on an industrial-scale water treatment plant project.

The plant needed:

  1. old coatings and rust stripped from their tanks and pipelines
  2. application of new, approved coatings

The team opted for DUSTLESS BLASTING® - the perfect method to tackle the project with minimal environmental impact. By utilizing this innovative technique, the team effectively stripped old coatings and rust from the tanks and pipelines, while keeping the surrounding grounds and open water tanks free from contamination.

To get everything blasted on time, the combined crew ran three DUSTLESS BLASTING® machines simultaneously.

The crew primarily wet blasted throughout the job in order to suppress dust around open water tanks and enable other nearby contractors to work safely.

After blasting, exposed metal surfaces were treated with a rust inhibitor remove oil, dirt, clean pores and protect from flash rust.

After drying, a fresh 2-part epoxy coating was applied to the clean metal surface. This process was repeated for every tank and line on the property.

Before blasting, thick plastic sheeting was laid on the ground to contain the spent media and primary waste.

Once the material had dried, it was collected with a shovel and wheelbarrow, and then disposed of in portable dumpsters.

When blasting around open water tanks, oversized tarps were used to help contain blasting debris.
